John Bentleys Dwarf Troops (308) points

I think I tried to reach too far for this month.

 Starting off with the

Musician peeking between two trees ready to make the call to shoot their enemies

The Standard Bearer head held high

The Champion ready to shout commands

A secondary Standard  made out of spare bits advertising for Bugmans Brew xxxxxx
makes me wish I could remember where I got those litttle banners from but they work well
if you know please let me know

shots of the whole unit

These tall shots look fantastic however it was after the table was put away that I noticed a cut a row off of the left side. Im going to keep them in anyway because I like them

The full scenery all made this month.

I like making scenery and kind of got caught up in it

I thought it would be cool to have modular trees and use cutout of the shape you need for the forest size or more thematic as unit fillers

this was a very fun project this month and too beautiful to not do a shoot outside.

I hope all the rest of you can say the same.

keep up the amazing work. I love all the pictures

Chris P's Rank and File Month 2 - Freebooters!

Freebooter Kaptain: 35 pts
Gretchin Assistant: 3 pts
9 Freebooters: 108 pts
Total 146 pts

I had wanted to do a mob of Freebooters this year, but I was hamstrung by only having four of the original pirates in my collection. Then I stumbled across a Kickstarter project for new pirates, sculpted by none other than Kev Adams. And there were six of them, plus a booty-laden grot! And thus a mob was born.

The newer sculpts are a touch bigger than the originals, but not devastatingly so. Quite impressive casting too - each of them, even the Kaptain and the canoneer, is a one-piece metal model, and they're all loaded with detail, character, and interesting textures to paint. I also picked up a few plastic bits from the Gorkamorka box recently, which gave me some interesting arm options for the classic crew (plus a nice big curved sword from a Battlemasters orc!).

The Kickstarter also gave me inspiration for the paint scheme, since the example models were painted with rich burgundy coats and bright yellow piping. I like having a Freebooter scheme which clearly stands out from the regular ork clan colours. Vivid blue and orange squig-hair helped with this too. And then there's the Kaptain, a frankly ludicrous Cybork monster, who got a more weathered variation on burgundy for his clanking armour, plus a thinned coat of Contrast paint to make his squid-squig buddy look suitably damp. All-in-all, these guys took a long time to paint, but were a whole heap of fun!

Renegades of Funk (Skåls Rank and File month 3)

INCOMING!!!!!

Emerging from the warp's swirling maelstrom, Chaos Renegade Marines materialized on the planet's surface, their twisted armor adorned with blasphemous symbols. With ruthless efficiency, they descended upon the Imperial stronghold, their weapons singing the discordant hymns of Chaos. Blood-soaked battle cries echoed as they stormed through defenses, leaving only carnage in their wake. The air crackled with dark energy as they unleashed unholy fury upon their foes, driven by a malevolent thirst for destruction. Amidst the chaos, the Renegades sought to sow fear and despair, a grim reminder of the ever-looming threat of the warp's malefic influence.

Month three is here and then it's gone in the blink of an eye. But what a glorious month it was. This month was a tribute to my gaming buddies from Maryland who got me back into playing Rogue Trader. Because of the grumpy gamers I have painted up several forces to use in the chaotic scenarios that the master of chaos himself dreams up. Yes, Brian, I am talking about you.

Above is the crew in all of their chaotic glory. From left to right, first, we have Brian the tentacle flamethrower, next to him is Four-Armed Will the Conquer, in the middle is Titillating Psychedelic, Cool Jeff, followed by the Killer of Hopes and Dreams of Others, Andrew, and finally the Misfit of the crew Tom the Legend himself.

As if the five above was not enough, I painted another five Renegades to make sure I could field a squad of 10 or two squads of five. In this group, second to the left, we have Ben the Never-Present brother of Tom. Finally in the middle is me Skål the Ever Angry always ready to paint new $hit.

I wanted to make sure to call out the Misfits logo on Tom the Legends backpack. Tom is a good buddy of mine and I wanted to make sure to include the Misfits somehow into his Renegade.

Till next month.

"Here's to us,

And those like us.

Damn few and they're probably dead.

Cheers!"

Skål

 Renegades of Funk

Nathan’s rank and file month 3 - hump month done and dusted! (408 points)

Well I got through hump month without having to use my mulligan which I am very happy about. As I noted last month this month’s figures are a continuation of the unit I started painting in February. Said unit of warriors with double handed weapons and crossbows is now complete including command figures and a couple of extras. Anyway here are the point values of the figures I did in March:

- 5 dark elves with double handed weapons, light armor,  shield and crossbows (80 points)

- 1 dark elf with double handed weapon, light armor, crossbow and standard (30 points)

- 1 dark elf with double handed weapon, light armor, crossbow and horn (30 points)

- 1 Witch Helm (unit leader lvl 10 hero) with double handed weapon, light armor shield and crossbow (96 points)

- 1 Bloodshade (lvl 5 assassin) with additional hand weapons, throwing knives, light armor and crossbow (55 points)

- 1 Witch Helm (lvl 10 hero for my helldrake unit) with double handed weapon, light armor, crossbow and riding a cold one. He will also have magic missiles for the crossbow which is a nasty surprise for any unit attacking them. (117 points)

Total 408 points

April is witch elf month which leaves me May and June to work on my cold one chariot, remaining cold one riders and army general.

Samuel’s Empire - Grand Army of Nuln - Mulligan Time

Everything was going to schedule and then it wasn't. Family holiday into a Corona and I'm out of action. So a mulligan for me this month. Good head start on next month though.

Peace

Samuel

Adrian's rank & file month 3 - Now you see me, Now you're dead (160 points)

Surprising an elf army is nigh impossible. Their territories are patrolled by some of the skilled and silent agents.

The elf seekers or the ranks of the nagarythean Shadow Warriors are the reason almost no enemy can escape the elf inteligence. They search for enemy patrols or columns, locate stashes, or inform of enemy repositioning. But most importantly, they're deadly sharpshooters and warriors eager to strike behind enemy lines.

During the crisis of the fall of Tor Nimtala, regiments of seekers moved behind the lines of the besieging orcs and ratment hordes and killed hundreds of vital reinforcements, supplies. But more importantly for the cohesion of the chaotic hordes, they destroyed or robbed the loot gained from the burnt villages, expanding an aura of mistrust between the attackers.

They also coordinated with the few defenders of the villages. Creating chokepoints or false routes to overcome the defenders, the ratmen fall under the sudden strike of arrows coming from units of seekers supported by strategically placed bolt throwers.

March suddenly become the trap month, and I still cannot comprehend why. I intended to paint a unit of shadow warriors/seekers, restoring the old plastic elf archers, and then moving to the bolt thrower and some extras that I want to finally include (I have a spare elf warrior militia that I said I'd love to finish converting and panting).

Everything planned failed and I got enough time to paint the bare minimum. Well, not exactly, a unit of seekers plus the bolt thrower and crew.

For the unit, I opted for more muted and greenish or shadow colours that they may use as camouflage. The colours of the clothes are not as bright as other line units.

I ended including some patterns in the least muted/more contrasting colour as with other clothes of the army, and in the cloaks, as if they were made from some fine cloth. Also, I glazed the cloaks so the pattern dissapear in the shadows, to boost the effect of the embroided fine clothes rather than a printed pattern like in the other fabrics.

The bolt thrower is supposedly made from some fine reddish wood, so I used the same technique as in the fabric of the cloaks. First, I made the pattern. then, I glazed the wood with a mix of AK laser magenta and hull red.

That's a total of

10x High elf shadow warriors - 110 points

1x High elf repeater bolt thrower - 50 points

Another month, 13 more miniatures finished. Next month I want to paint the swordmasters and the extras that does not fit with the baggage train.

Until then,

Adrian's out.

Mustafa’s Beakies: Month III, rank and file.

Can’t have a space marine without space marines.

This is the second squad of beakies plus rhino.

Tactical Squad : 300pts

Krak Grenades : 30pts

Veteran Sergeant: 5pts

Chainsword :  2pts

Plasma Pistol : 5pts

Missile Launcher : 45pts

Meltagun : 8pts (ignore the fact that it looks like a las cannon!)

Rhino : 50pts

Total : 445pts

That’s basically the meat and bones of a space marine army right there so the rest will be the icing on the cake. I reckon a captain and heavy ordnance will get them fighting fit :)
